Car computer stores and vehicle telematics outfits received an e-mail earlier this week from HTS, the new company started by several former employees of Infill. They accept advanced orders for their new product called FunDi G7 (following the naming tradition of theĀ G4 Infill model pictured on the left maybe), but there are no installation pictures available and no website to place inquiries on. The PDF lists a series of up-to-date specifications and a not-so-realistic image.
Car computer manufacturers have a long history of publishing specs and taking advanced orders without ever reaching manufacturing stages. Infill was one of VIA’s darlings, featured on the VIA Gallery and generally well-received since their launch in 2004. HTS can certainly capitalize on that previous experience and emerge successful in spite of our pessimism – after all they are best placed with direct access to Korean car manufacturers (responsible for most of the 2-DIN ready models available on the market) and a strong base of skilled electronics designers and engineers. We will report again on this once more details become available.
